WCCH Challenge Offering
The WCCH Challenge Offering has its roots in a conversation we had with our good friend, Don Fleischman, at Michiana Christian Service Camp in the summer of 2010. We were discussing the urgent need to offset the effects of rising program costs and the challenge of replacing reductions in church and individual support brought on by a difficult economy. The idea was to enlist several churches to be Challenge Churches… churches that would pledge a certain amount of money in advance which would be used to challenge other churches to collectively respond by sharing in a special offering. Our first two Challenge Churches… the Fairland Christian Church in Niles, Michigan and the Angola Christian Church in Angola, Indiana… set a high standard with their challenge and the other churches were quick to respond. The result was a $30,000+ total offering which has been repeated in following years.
Now, each year, three “Challenge Churches” promise to contribute $5,000 as a challenge to the rest of our supporting churches to collectively match their (total) $15,000 contribution. The resulting offering is a great boost to our WCCH ministry. This year, the offerings received will be designated to the Transition Fund. This fund will be used to help pay for the additional administrator’s salary necessary to facilitate the new Executive Director’s transition. This is essential to our ministry.
This year (2018) our Challenge Churches are First Church of Christ in Bryan, Ohio and the Pinehurst Christian Church in Marietta, Ohio.
Will you help us reach our goal? Just write “Challenge Offering” in the Memo and send your check to the Woodburn Christian Children’s Home. Alternatively, you may use our online giving option (click here). We need both churches and individuals who will respond to the challenge and help us reach our goal. The challenge offering will remain open and contributions to the Challenge Offering will be gladly accepted through the end of the year.
In the future, we will need both Challenge Churches and Responding Churches to sustain this ministry:
A Challenge Church agrees to:
A Responding Church (Or Individual):
